3-Aminopropyldimethylmethoxysilane is a monolayer, divalent hydrocarbon with a reaction rate of 2.5×10 moles/s. The activation energy for this reaction is 22.4 kilojoules per mole. 3-Aminopropyldimethylmethoxysilane has been shown to react with various inorganic substances, such as aluminum oxide and titanium dioxide to form silica layers on their surfaces. This substance also reacts with organic materials, such as terpenes, to produce polysilanes. 3-Aminopropyldimethylmethoxysilane has a molecular weight of 131 grams per mole and contains two functional groups: amine and methoxy groups.
