- 6-Amino-1-methyl-5-(propylamino)-2,4(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione
6-Amino-5-propylamino-1-methyluracil is a reactive compound that induces apoptosis in cancer cells. It has been shown to cause DNA damage and activate the p38 mitogen activated protein kinase, which leads to cell death by apoptosis. 6-Amino-5-propylamino-1-methyluracil has also been shown to induce cell death in HGC27 cells, which are human colon carcinoma cells that overexpress the p21 gene. 6-Amino-5-propylamino-1-methyluracil has also shown antiangiogenic properties and is being studied as an anticancer agent.
