2-Amino-3,4-dihydro-4-oxo-6-pteridinecarboxylic acid is an analytical reagent that reacts with the hydroxyl group of malonic acid to produce a fluorescent derivative. 2-Amino-3,4-dihydro-4-oxo-6-pteridinecarboxylic acid is used in wastewater treatment to measure the effectiveness of the process.
