Description

3-Amino-2-piperidinone is a metabolite of ornithine, which is a nonessential amino acid. It is produced by the metabolism of arginine and lysine, both of which are essential amino acids. 3-Amino-2-piperidinone has been found in urine samples from patients with bladder cancer and hyperornithinemia. It has also been detected in saccharomyces cerevisiae strain during energy metabolism experiments. This metabolite can be identified using chromatographic techniques such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
3-Amino-2-piperidinone can be used to identify the presence of cancer or metabolic disorders such as hyperornithinemia by measuring its concentration in urine samples or reaction solutions.
