2-Aminophenethyl alcohol is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of 2-aminophenols. It is an oxidation catalyst for organic compounds and has been shown to have a high efficiency in the conversion of hydrocarbons, such as chlorinated hydrocarbons and chlorinated aliphatic compounds, into their corresponding alcohols. In addition to its catalytic properties, 2-aminophenethyl alcohol is also used in coordination chemistry as an efficient method for introducing aldehyde groups onto metal ions. 2-Aminophenethyl alcohol has a redox potential of -1.8 V, which makes it suitable for use in neutral pH conditions.
