2-Amino-4-chloro-5-nitrophenol is a chemical that is synthesized in the laboratory and can be used as an acetylating agent. Acetylation is a chemical reaction that adds an acetyl group to a molecule. 2-Amino-4-chloro-5-nitrophenol is a conjugate of chloroacetaldehyde with 2,4,5,6 tetranitrobenzene and has potent cytotoxicity against MDA MB231 breast cancer cells. The anticancer activity of 2 amino 4 chloro 5 nitrophenol has been demonstrated in vitro by inhibiting the enzyme activity of glutathione S transferase. This agent also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to chloride ions and forming a complex with palladium.
