1-Amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone is a reactive chemical that has been shown to be carcinogenic in experimental animals. It has been found to induce ovarian tumors in rats and mice. The carcinogenic potential of 1-amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone is thought to be due to its ability to form DNA adducts with nucleic acids, resulting in genotoxic effects. These chemical analyses have also shown that 1-amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone is an atypical compound, which may contribute to the carcinogenic effects seen in animal studies.
