Aglinin A is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antagonist that is isolated from the bark of Shorea tomentosa. Aglinin A inhibits the phosphorylation of EGFR and blocks downstream signaling pathways, which are responsible for cell proliferation. Aglinin A has shown anti-cancer activity against a number of cancer cell lines, including lung cancer cells and leukemia cells. This compound also has potent antimalarial activity in vitro. Aglinin A's mechanism of action is similar to that of cabraleone and cabraleahydroxylactone, which have been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
