Description

Adipic acid monobenzyl ester is a biodegradable linker that can be used as an analog of adipic acid. It has been shown to have antioxidative activity in the presence of iron, which may be due to its ability to form a disulfide bond with thiol groups. This compound is also an effective inhibitor of infectious diseases and has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Adipic acid monobenzyl ester is soluble in organic solvents, making it suitable for use in chemical ligation reactions for conjugation with carbohydrates or proteins (e.g., heparin).
