Description

2-Amino-4-ethylsulfonyl)phenol is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have antibacterial and antidiabetic properties. It has been used as an experimental drug in the treatment of bacterial infections, but its efficacy has not yet been fully determined. 2-Amino-4-ethylsulfonyl)phenol is thought to inhibit tyrosine kinases and chloride channels, although the exact mechanism of action is unknown. The molecule contains a hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl group and sulfur atom. This hydrogen bond stabilizes the molecule against thermal fluctuations. Simulations have shown that 2-amino-4-ethylsulfonyl)phenol can exist in two tautomeric forms, which may be due to the presence of a dihedral angle in the molecule's structure.
