Description :L-alpha-Aminoadipic acid is a metabolite of the amino acid L-lysine. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of polyamines, which are essential for cell growth and replication. L-alpha-Aminoadipic acid has been shown to be important in energy metabolism and has also been found to have neuroprotective properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit glutamate excitotoxicity by blocking neuronal death pathways. This amino acid is not active against most bacteria, but it inhibits the growth of pathogenic strains such as Escherichia coli and Clostridium difficile.
