Description

4-Aminobenzoic acid sodium salt is an aminobenzoic acid that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is soluble in water and alcohol and has a pH of 4.5. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis, which prevents the formation of fatty acids and results in cell death. The compound also inhibits allergic reactions through its inhibition of histamine release from mast cells. 4-Aminobenzoic acid sodium salt has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to bind to epidermal growth factor receptors on the surface of keratinocytes, leading to increased cell proliferation and less inflammation.
