N-Acetyl-5-acetoxytryptamine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to treat pain and inflammation. It is a prodrug of 5-hydroxytryptamine, which binds to the same receptors as serotonin in the body. N-Acetyl-5-acetoxytryptamine has been shown to be effective for the treatment of interphalangeal joint, proximal joint, and iliac dislocations. It has also been shown to reduce pain in patients with vascularised fibromyalgia, who had not responded well to other treatments such as immobilisation or regimens. N-Acetyl-5-acetoxytryptamine may be used in conjunction with scaphoid fracture and dorsolateral ligament injuries.
