3-Amino-2-phenylpyridine is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of aryl halides. It has been shown to have synergistic effects with hydrochloric acid and aminopyridine in the synthesis of phosphate derivatives. 3-Amino-2-phenylpyridine has also been used in cross coupling reactions with palladium complexes, such as the Suzuki reaction. 3-Amino-2-phenylpyridine is bacteriostatic, inhibiting bacterial growth by interfering with protein synthesis. This compound also affects cardiac contractility, which may be due to its ability to reduce intracellular calcium levels and cause an increase in intracellular levels of cAMP. 3-Amino-2-phenylpyridine has also been found to be low energy and can be used for x-ray absorption spectroscopy studies on proteins.
