5-Amino-4-cyano-1-phenyl-3-pyrazole acetonitrile (ACN) is a drug that inhibits the growth of fungi by interfering with the synthesis of their cell walls. Itraconazole and fluconazole, other drugs belonging to the same class, are used as antifungal agents for the treatment of candida albicans infections. ACN was synthesized in order to determine its effects on C. albicans. The chemical structure of ACN is similar to that of pyrazoline, which has been shown to have fungistatic activity against C. albicans isolates.
