This reaction can be used as an indicator of the presence of colon cancer. The optimal reaction conditions are at pH 7 and a temperature between 60 and 70 °C. 1-Acetyl-3-fluorobenzene has shown significant cytotoxic activity against colon cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
