• Description: 6-Azido-hexanoic acid is a growth factor that inhibits the binding of TGF-β to its receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 6-Azido-hexanoic acid binds with high affinity to the acidic region of TGF-β, preventing it from binding to its receptor. This molecule also inhibits the activation of the TGF-β receptor complex by decreasing the phosphorylation of Smad 1/5/8. 6-Azido-hexanoic acid has been shown to be effective in pancreatic cancer models and control studies have demonstrated an absence of toxicity or side effects.
