Description

2-Amino-3,5-dibromobenzonitrile is an electrophile that is used to synthesize various boronic acid derivatives. It also inhibits butyrylcholinesterase and 2-aminobenzonitrile, enhancing the activity of organophosphorus cholinesterase inhibitors. 2-Amino-3,5-dibromobenzonitrile has been shown to react with nucleophiles at the alpha position to form a stable intermediate. This reaction has been shown to be reversible in aqueous solution. The compound has been evaluated as a potential chemotherapeutic agent against cancer cells in vitro.
