Alpinumisoflavone dimethyl ether is a bioactive compound that belongs to the family of isoflavones. It is found in the plant Erythrina senegalensis and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Alpinumisoflavone dimethyl ether inhibits the production of necrosis factor, which is involved in the inflammatory response. The mechanism for this inhibition may be due to its ability to inhibit lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury by competitively binding to β-amyrin on the surface of macrophages, preventing it from activating pro-inflammatory pathways. Alpinumisoflavone dimethyl ether also inhibits hydroxylation of erythrinan, leading to increased stability of the molecule.
