It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. 4-Acetylbenzoic acid ethyl ester also induces cell death in inflammatory diseases by inhibiting the activation of protein kinase C γ (PKC γ) by retinoic acid. This agent has been shown to be active against recombinant human Pparγ and can be used as an additive for cell-based assays.
