Z-Asp-OtBu·DCHA is an acceptor molecule that is used in chemoenzymatic syntheses. It is a methylester of aspartic acid and has been optimized to function as a catalyst for numerous reactions, including glycopeptide synthesis and transfer reactions. This molecule has also been shown to have enzymatic functions, such as phosphatase activity, which may be due to its ability to mimic the function of serine or asparagine.
