Agarotetrol
Description :
Agarotetrol is a fructus that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of degenerative diseases. It contains aristolochic acid, which is an active substance that may be useful in the treatment of ischemia and reperfusion injuries. Agarotetrol also contains dehydrocostus lactone and isoagarotetrol, which have anti-viral effects.
Agarotetrol has not been clinically tested for its pharmacokinetic properties. The mechanism of action of agarotetrol is still unclear, but it may be related to apoptosis pathway activation. The detection method for this compound is by hydroxysafflor yellow (HSY) fluorescence spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
