Description

6-Amino-2-mercaptobenzothiazole is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in mammalian cells. It inhibits the growth of human cancer cells by binding to signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) and inhibiting STAT3 phosphorylation. 6-Amino-2-mercaptobenzothiazole has been shown to be toxic to MDA-MB231 breast cancer cells, which are known for their sensitivity to anticancer drugs. 6-Amino-2-mercaptobenzothiazole also inhibits the growth of other human cancer cell lines such as MCF7 cells and A375 melanoma cells.
