Description

2-Acetyl-5-chlorothiophene is a chemical compound that belongs to the pyrazole family of compounds. It has been shown to be an efficient antimicrobial agent against Gram-positive bacteria, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), penicillin resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae, and vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecium. 2-Acetyl-5-chlorothiophene also has anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the activity of proteases. This compound has been shown to be effective in treating cancer by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and preventing tumor proliferation. 2-Acetyl-5-chlorothiophene has also been shown to have metal carbonyl binding properties, which can lead to structural studies on its interactions with other organic compounds.
