L-Arg(Me, Me)-OH is an asymmetric oxide that inhibits the synthesis of endogenous asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA). ADMA is a naturally occurring inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, which prevents production of nitric oxide and leads to endothelial dysfunction. L-Arg(Me, Me)-OH can be used in medicine for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases as it has been shown to have therapeutic effects on endothelial dysfunction.
