4'-Acetyl-2,2,2-trifluoroacetanilide is a heterocyclic compound that is readily prepared by heating trifluoroacetamide with amines in the presence of a base. It can also be prepared by microwave irradiation of 2,6-dichloro-4'-nitrobenzene with an acetyl chloride and sodium hydroxide mixture. 4'-Acetyl-2,2,2-trifluoroacetanilide is used as an efficient heterocyclic building block for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds. It has been found to be thermally stable at high temperatures and does not react with water or alkali metals.
