Amyloid beta-protein (Aβ) is a peptide that is found in the brain and other tissues, such as the heart. It is thought to be one of the major causes of Alzheimer's Disease. The Aβ protein has been shown to have an important role in the process of polymerization, which is a process where small molecules are joined together to form polymers. Amyloid beta-Protein (Aβ) Trifluoroacetate (ATF) is an amyloid protein that can be used as a marker for Alzheimer's disease. ATF is synthesized by reacting Aβ with trifluoroacetic acid and purified by preparative chromatography.
