Bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene is a coordination compound that is mainly used for hydrogen-bond activation. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer, as it induces apoptosis in colorectal carcinoma cells. Bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene binds to DNA and inhibits transcription by competing with adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This compound also interacts with the diphosphine ligand to form tetranuclear and hexanuclear complexes, which are involved in the activation of hydrogen atoms. Bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene has been shown to have an intramolecular hydrogen bond with its own acetylene group. This type of bond is known to stabilize molecules and increase their stability and reactivity.
