Description :
Ethyl benzyloxycarbamate is a propylphosphonic acid that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to amino groups in proteins. It has been shown to be an effective antibiotic against pathogenic organisms and has been used as a surrogate for penicillin, which is difficult to synthesize. Ethyl benzyloxycarbamate is also used as an herbicide, inhibiting the enzyme carotenoid biosynthesis.
