Description

6-Chloro-2-(chloromethyl)-4-phenyl-quinazoline is a phenyl ring with an oxide group at the 6 position and a chlorodiazepoxide group at the 2 position. It is used in dermatitis, as it inhibits the release of histamines. This drug has been shown to have sensitized reactions in guinea pigs, and dimers are formed when it reacts with skin tissue. 6-Chloro-2-(chloromethyl)-4-phenyl-quinazoline can form dihedral or centrosymmetric quinazolines by reacting with hydrazine and benzodiazepine. The formation of these compounds is dependent on the presence of hydrazines and benzodiazepines, which may be found in certain household products such as detergents or cosmetics.
