Description

Benzoyl chloride is a p-hydroxybenzoic acid derivative that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It has been shown to have metabolic disorders, such as monoamine neurotransmitter synthesis, and biological properties, such as the ability to inhibit nitrite ion formation from thiosulfate. Benzoyl chloride can be prepared by reacting benzene with chlorine gas in a solution of amide or chloroform. It reacts with the chloride ion in the reaction solution to form benzoyl chloride. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and can be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Benzoyl chloride also has chemical stability and can be used for sample preparation without being degraded.
