S-Boc-2-mercapto-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine is a mutagenic agent that induces mutations in the genetic material. It has been shown to be mutagenic in bacteria, yeast and mammalian cells (TA100). The chemical can be used to synthesize peptides, including those that are bioactive. It also reacts with chloride to form chloroformate and react with fluoride to form tert-butyl chloride. S-Boc-2-mercapto-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine is a chemical reagent that can be used for acetylation reactions or as a reagent for the synthesis of peptides.
