1-Bromo-2,6-dimethyl benzene is a functional compound that has been used in the synthesis of palladium complexes with different types of ligands. It also has optical properties, such as its high boiling point and low solubility in water. The bromine atom in 1-bromo-2,6-dimethylbenzene can be replaced by other halogens or hydrogen. This allows for a variety of reactions to occur on the molecule, including cross coupling reactions and nucleophilic substitution reactions.
1-Bromo-2,6-dimethylbenzene has been used to synthesize ethyl acetate as well as other organic compounds. The ethyl group can be replaced by other alkyl groups or halides to produce different products. The reaction is catalyzed by a suzuki coupling reaction.
