Description

6-Bromopyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a coordination compound that is a member of the pyridinium family. It has been shown to have inhibitory activity against reactive oxygen species, including hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals. The compound also has an ability to form hydrogen bonds with the amino acids lysine and arginine. 6-Bromopyridine-2-carboxylic acid was used in clinical trials for the treatment of acute porphyria, but did not show any therapeutic effects. Analytical methods include IR spectroscopy, XRD, NMR, and MS. Structural analysis reveals that 6-bromopyridine-2-carboxylic acid contains a quinoid ring system with two nitrogen atoms at position 1 and 2 on the benzene ring.
