2-Benzyloxy-3-bromopyridine is a cationic surfactant that is used as an emulsifier for the production of ethoxylates. It has been shown to be active in the treatment of skin diseases and infections, such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. 2-Benzyloxy-3-bromopyridine has also been shown to have clinical relevance in the treatment of various cancers, including bladder cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, head and neck cancers, lung cancer, lymphoma/leukemia, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer. This agent works by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. The mechanism of action is thought to involve alkylation of DNA nucleotides or inhibition of RNA synthesis through amination reactions with amino groups on proteins.
