Description :
4-Bromo-3-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole is a nucleophilic reactant that reacts with hydrazine to form the intermediate, 4-(4-bromophenyl)-1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine. This intermediate then undergoes cyclocondensation with ethylene glycol in the presence of a base to form 1,2,5,6-tetrahydrobenzofuran. The reaction is regioselective because the pyrazole ring is only attacked at the 2 position.
