The mechanism of this inhibition may be due to 5-bromo-2,3 nitropyridine's ability to inhibit inflammatory genes such as NFκβ, IL1β, and IL6. 5 – Bromo - 2 - chloro - 3 - nitropyridine has also been shown to inhibit death pathways in cells by inhibiting proapoptotic protein Bax.
