Description :
4-Bromophthalimide is a chemical substance that belongs to the class of aromatic hydrocarbons. It has been shown to react with nitro groups, giving rise to the corresponding 4-nitrophthalimide. The reaction is an example of a nucleophilic substitution reaction. 4-Bromophthalimide can be used for the synthesis of active substances and as a cross-coupling agent in organic synthesis. This compound is also used as a reagent for profiling human proteins and other organic molecules and has been used in kinetic studies on organometallic systems. 4-Bromophthalimide reacts thermally with dimethylformamide to give 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline (1).
