• Description: 4-Bromo-3-fluorophenol is a potent antiviral agent that inhibits the replication of hepatitis C virus. 4-Bromo-3-fluorophenol has been shown to inhibit the polymerase activity of replicon cells and the synthesis of viral RNA in vitro. It also inhibits the growth of Hepatitis B virus and HIV and is used as a surrogate for these viruses in toxicity studies. 4-Bromo-3-fluorophenol binds to both NS5B polymerase and enzyme complex, which prevents RNA synthesis by inhibiting the function of NS5A protein. This drug also acts as an allosteric inhibitor of birefringence, which may be due to its ability to bind to NS5A protein at high concentrations.
