2-(4-Bromophenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid is a heterocycloalkyl compound that is an antagonist for the noncompetitive inhibition of the β2 receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the binding of 4-(2-bromoethyl)morpholine hydrochloride to the β2 receptor in rat brain tissue. The enantiomer, (3R)-2-(4-bromophenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid, has been shown to be more potent than (3S)-2-(4-bromophenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid. 2-(4-Bromophenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid binds to the oxadiazolyl and pyrazolyl moieties on the β2 receptor, which are necessary for binding by agonists and antagonists.
