Boc-L-alaninol is a synthetic, non-toxic, and water soluble compound. It has been shown to have anti-cancer activity in vivo and is a potent antagonist of the neurally active pyrazole ring. Boc-L-alaninol can penetrate the blood brain barrier, which would make it an efficient method for treating cancerous tumors that are located in the brain. This compound has also been shown to be an antagonist of acidic phospholipids in cancer cells and has been used to profile different types of cancer cells. Boc-L-alaninol is also a linker between two molecules that can be used in synthetic chemistry as well as for tumor imaging.
