Description

2,4-Bis(trifluoromethyl) benzyl bromide is an organic chemical that is used in pharmaceutical research as a synthetic intermediate. It is the starting material for many drugs, including benzodiazepines and vaccines. The chemical can be synthesized by a number of methods, but the most commonly used are alkylation and catalytic methods. This compound is an enantiomer of 2,4-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzyl alcohol.
2,4-Bis(trifluoromethyl) benzyl bromide has been shown to inhibit enzymes that are involved in the catabolic process, such as cytochrome P450 and carboxylesterases. It also inhibits enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of proteins, such as protein kinase C and protein phosphatase 2A.
