Description :
N-1,3-Benzothiazol-2-ylguanidine is a drug that can inhibit the production of autoantibodies. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to form an active methylene group. This drug has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the production of antibodies for autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. The drug has not been found toxic at sublethal doses in animals, but it does have pharmacokinetic properties that limit its use in humans. N-1,3-Benzothiazol-2-ylguanidine binds to chloride ions and forms hydrogen bonds with other molecules within the body. This binding prevents the formation of hydrogen bonds with other molecules, inhibiting the synthesis of proteins and DNA.
