- N-[(1E)-phenylmethylidene]benzenesulfonamide
N-Benzylidenebenzenesulfonamide is an organic compound that is used to synthesize azafulveniums, which are used as fungicides. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of methylamine-sensitive bacteria and microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus in vitro. N-Benzylidenebenzenesulfonamide is hydrolyzed in acidic conditions to form hydroxide ions, which can then react with amines to form imines. The imine group can be converted into an active methylene group by reacting with mesoporous silica and acid catalyst.
