Description

4-Bromo-1-naphthol is a reactive, protonated molecule with nitrogen atoms. It is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA and preventing transcription and replication. The molecular structure of 4-bromo-1-naphthol consists of two aromatic rings and one aliphatic chain. This compound also has a number of hydroxyl groups that are involved in reactions with nucleophilic species such as water, alcohols, amines, or thiols. 4-Bromo-1-naphthol is structurally related to pyrazole derivatives, which are well known for their bacteriostatic properties. These compounds have been shown to be effective against Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Shigella spp., but not against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Enterococcus faecalis.
