2-(2-Bromo-5-methoxyphenyl)acetonitrile is a hydroxy, oxindole with a phenolic group. It has been obtained by an efficient method of catalytic hydrogenolysis of coerulescine. This compound was synthesized from copper and cyclic ketones.
2-(2-Bromo-5-methoxyphenyl)acetonitrile is used as a precursor in the synthesis of other compounds that are used in biomolecular research.
