Description

Bis(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl) succinate is a growth factor that can stimulate the proliferation of epidermal cells. It has been shown to be bifunctional and to react with lysine residues on proteins. Bis(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl) succinate may also be used as a drug delivery system for monoclonal antibodies. The activated form of bis(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl) succinate is degradable and may be useful in the treatment of wounds. This compound is also fluorescent, which makes it useful for in vivo experiments involving tryptophan fluorescence.
