Description :
4-Bromo-2-chloro-6-methoxypyridine is an intermediate in the synthesis of drugs. It can be prepared by diazotization of 4-bromo-2,6-dimethoxypyrimidine with sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid followed by bromination with bromine in acetic acid. This process yields the target product in high yield. The catalyst used is usually palladium chloride or ferric chloride.
