Tert-butyl (4-methylpiperidin-4-yl)carbamate is a potent inhibitor of the Src family kinase, Shp2. This inhibition leads to phosphatase and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation, which in turn can inhibit tumor growth. Tert-butyl (4-methylpiperidin-4-yl)carbamate also inhibits virus replication by interfering with the viral receptor tyrosine kinase. It has been shown to be orally bioavailable and to inhibit tumor growth in vivo without any toxic effects on healthy cells.
