1-Bromo-4-phenoxybenzene is an organic compound that can be used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals. It is also used in wastewater treatment and as an additive to solvents or fuels to increase their octane rating. The reaction solution can be obtained by reacting phenol with bromine, which yields 1-bromo-4-phenoxybenzene and 2,6-dibromoethanol. This chemical has potent inhibitory activity against hydroxide solution, which is a common method for removing metals from water. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy has been used to demonstrate that this chemical binds to the receptor site of amp-activated protein kinase (AMPK). It also has a hydrochloric acid and hydroxyl group functional groups.
